The winning teams will each receive a cash prize worth between <strong>\u20ac6,000<\/strong> and <strong>\u20ac12,000<\/strong> along with a commission, for part of them, to further develop their scheme with the stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Housing remains the main program in many urban development projects of the post-industrial era,\u2019 said Didier Rebois, The General Secretary of Europan. \u2018During the last decade, we wisely added office places and public amenities, but remain especially keen on stimulating bars, shops and restaurants because we want every new district to be a \u201cgenuine\u201d vibrant urban neighborhood. Looking back at how we organized this wave of regeneration, we can see how we have systematically excluded one program: <strong>the productive economy<\/strong>.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.europan-esp.es\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/E14_Archdaily_article_Bazana-Madrid-Palma.jpg\" alt=\"E14_Archdaily_article_Bazana Madrid Palma\" width=\"612\" height=\"365\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-3201\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u2018Of course, we should not bring steel factories back to the city center. Didier Rebois continues, \u2018but we are already welcoming all kinds of small-scale urban manufacturing. We are accommodating more and more of the new recycling industry within the city itself. <strong>Production should be encouraged in the city, be part of the fabric, be allowed to be seen, connected to shared daily life, nurtured and celebrated<\/strong>\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.europan-europe.eu\/en\/session\/europan-14\/sites\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">44 sites<\/a><\/strong> are of different sizes. Urban architecture scale like in Narvik (NO) connecting a small area (1,4ha) for \u201ca new arena of social life\u201d inside a development of knowledge-based production. Urban scale as in Guebwiller (FR) in France  where a 6,6ha former factory needs to upcycle a mixed area including new production. Territorial area like in La Bazana (ES), a former agricultural village of 1954 including the large landscape around to a new productive area.<\/p>\n<p>Other sites include five key development sites in Amsterdam (NL) where over 50.000 homes will be built in the next eight years, Hamburg (DE) and Helsinki (FI). A full list of locations can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/www.europan-europe.eu\/en\/session\/europan-14\/sites\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Submissions may be in English and potentially the local language of the competition site and must include three A1-sized display boards, a description of the submitted project plus three promotional images and a project text. Applicants pay a \u20ac150 registration fee.<\/p>\n<p>Europan is open to <strong>multidisciplinary teams aged under 40 years<\/strong>.
